A major inspiration for the relaunch of Ummah Directory was to spotlight new mosque projects across our State and country. The old magazine provided a list of mosques across Victoria and now there are many places to search for mosques across a number of platforms. We wanted to spotlight mosques that are being built across the country and platform these initiatives, raising the profile of the people coordinating these projects and in turn foster greater unity in our Ummah. Here are a select list of new projects we are excited to see come to fruition.
Masjid Lutwyche

North from the CBD of Brisbane lies the suburb of Lutwyche with a mosque that is seeking to acquire the neighbouring property to complete an expansion to support growing community requirements.
Brisbane Community Education Centre 1/138 Albert St, Brisbane City QLD 4000
Critically important are the CBD prayer spaces for office workers and travellers alike, with the team at Brisbane Community Education Centre seeking to renovate an existing space within the heart of Brisbane CBD. The space is pemanent and is seeking support to build a hub for the broader community to learn about Islam and a place for Muslims to strengthen their faith.
Brisbane Islamic Centre 161 Underwood Rd, Eight Mile Plains QLD 4113
Located in the Southside of Brisbane, upon completion will become Queensland’s largest mosque. The project on 5 acres of land will include a modern masjid, community hall, library, auditorium, museum, cafe and funeral parlour. The second phase of the project will include a retirement facility as well as a medical centre and childcare facility.
